Phlox paniculata ‘Kirmesländler’
Description:
A 1934 introduction from Karl Foerster (1874–1970) who described it in his 1954 book Neuer Glanz Des Gartenjahres (New Splendor of the Garden Year) as a tall August phlox with red-eyed, delicately fragrant umbels and is by far the longest-blooming of all phlox varieties. Foerster of Potsdam-Bornim, Germany was an influential horticulturist, nursery owner, and writer who helped transform garden design, leading with a naturalistic approach. He introduced more than 370 new plant varieties.
