Plant Guardians

Pteris gallinopes

Description:

Our Plant Guardian found this fern emerging from the compost of one of their orchids. Most of these 'pioneer' plants are usually of native origin, sometimes they are of more exotic origin, possibly reflecting the origin of the orchid. Habitat is limestone caves within the south-central region of China. Whilst they would normally discard these stray plants out Plant Guardian is working with members of the Pteridological Society to try to identify and grow on the rarer ferns.
