Description:
Striking tropical plant native to western Colombia and Ecuador, where it grows in warm, humid rainforests. It is a subshrub that thrives in the wet tropical biome, often found in shaded forest environments with high moisture levels. This species is admired for its large, velvety leaves marked with distinctive pale veins and a marbled appearance, which gives the plant its name marmoratum (“marbled”). In some parts of its native range, it has been used in traditional medicine by local communities.
