Hemerocallis ‘Ruffled Apricot’
Description:
Sam Houston Baker of Hope, New Jersey began hybridising in 1927 and registered 51 cultivars. Though his later work earned no awards, his famed tetraploid ‘Ruffled Apricot’ (1972) won multiple honours, including the Stout Medal (1982), and topped AHS polls. Other notable cultivars include ‘Look’ and ‘Spellbinder’ (1973). He continued hybridising into the 1980s, known for his distinctive tetraploids. Fragrant flowers of apricot with lavender pink midribs and golden apricot throat.
