Brugmansia × candida ‘Knightii’ (d) AGM

Description:
Fragrant double ‘hose-in-hose’ white flowers to 30cm long. Possibly raised circa 1844 at Joseph Knight’s nursery, Chelsea and named by George Glenny. It was also cited in the Gardeners Chronicle of 1844 as offered by Thomas Cripps nursery Tunbridge Wells as a new double white. Gardner’s Chronicle of 1843 suggests that Thomas Bridgeford and Son of Dublin were growing a double flowered white Brugmansia for offer in 1844 from seed introduced from ‘Chili’ by JC Lyons Esq of Westmeath Ireland.
