Penstemon ‘H.E. Bates’
Description:
First listed by National Collection holder John Lee of Froggery Cottage in 2017. This cultivar was selected by the late John Longstaff of Irthlingborough, Northants. Named for the writer Herbert Ernest Bates, it was one of six cultivars introduced by John Longstaff from 2007, with ‘H.E. Bates’ being introduced circa 2015. The other five cultivars introduced by John Longstaff are ‘R.J. Mitchell’; 'Dr. Gordon Mitchell’; ‘Spitfire’; ‘Sandringham’; and ‘Kimberly’.
