Helmsley Walled Garden, North Yorkshire

Helmsley Walled Garden has a 5 acre garden built in 1759 and is situated beneath the ruins of Helmsley Castle.  They hold the National Collection of Malus domestica (Yorkshire apple cultivars) and Pelargonium (Rosebud) which will feature in this visit. From 1984 to 1994 the garden became derelict.  Restoration started and today the resulting patchwork of intimate gardens are planted with flowers, fruit and vegetables, including the Hot Border and a Physic Garden.
