The Bulmers moved into this Queen Anne house in 1994 and since then have embarked on a major restoration project of both house and garden. The renowned 18th century water garden features canals and fishponds all fed by the river Arrow.
The design includes a theatre of semi-circular yew hedging, formal arches, and a rose garden. There is also a productive kitchen garden with distinctive double pitched roofed fruit cages.
Edward Bulmer founded a natural paint company, and has used custom paints throughout the garden such as electric blue benches, rusty red railings, and mossy green gates. Edward will give us a short introductory talk and then we shall head off to look around this most unusual and rarely opened garden, ending with tea and cake.
