Since 2022 George has been the full-time gardener in the Walled Garden at West Dean, working on ornamental borders, the cutting and kitchen gardens, and a significant collection of fruit trees. He is now a Senior Gardener at West Dean, and after developing many areas of the Walled Garden he is moving into a role focussing on the wider grounds where he will work on the innovative and varied larger-scale ornamental plantings. Prior to his current role, George was a trainee at West Dean where he worked across all areas of the garden, and this followed completion of the RHS Diploma at Plumpton College, an internship at Sarah Raven's Cutting Garden and volunteer experience including Charleston Farmhouse and Sissinghurst Castle Gardens. George previously trained and worked as a classical musician, and is passionate about the craft of gardening and creating atmosphere and beauty with plants in every season.
