Talk by Rachael Collings - A look at Araliaceae
Rachael's talk will provide a broad overview of Araliaceae, discuss her research findings and take a new look at some of the usual as well as the more unusual Araliads cultivated in our gardens with some general growing advice.

Rachael Collings was a nurse for many years before re-training as a horticulturist in 2019 at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, where she developed a love of woody plants. Since then she has gained a broad experience working on private estates, at a large container nursery and as a kitchen gardener, then completing the full time 2 year level 4 Diploma in Practical Horticulture at RHS Wisley Garden in 2024. As part of the Diploma, she conducted research into woody members of Araliaceae cultivate in the UK for 'Trees and Shrubs online', which led to writing articles for the website, with Tetrapanax, Fatsia and x Fatshedera published so far.
