Join us for an opportunity to hear from some of the custodians from National Plant Collections of Erica carnea, Cassiope & Daboecia with a visit to Riverside Park, Perth.

Dr T.A. Lowdon - Beautiful Perth National Collection of Erica carnea in Riverside Park Perth
Riverside Park, managed by Beautiful Perth is home to an extensive collection of heathers.
Alistair Chalmers - Cassiope at Branklyn Garden.
Branklyn Garden is an enchanting 2 acre hillside garden managed by The National Trust for Scotland and hosts 2 National Plant Plants collections of Meconopsis and Cassiope.
Brenda Leese - Holehird, heathers and the National Collection of Daboecia
Holehird Gardens is managed by the Lakeland Horticultural Society and hosts 6 National Plant Collections including Daboecia.
Michael David Pirie - Associate Professor in Botany and scientific curator of the Arboretum at the University of Bergen. Video presentation.
Eli Sutton - RHS Wisley which hosts National Plant Collections of Calluna vulgaris, Daboecia & Erica is home to a further 16 national Plant Collections.
Wisley has had a good collection of heathers since the 1920s when then-Director Frank Chittenden planted the Heath Garden on Seven Acres. In 1987 the collection was given National Plant Collection status and was relocated to Howard’s Field. Now it has been revitalised once more and around 25,000 heathers, including 900 cultivars - 162 of which are considered endangered - appear in the Heather Landscape.
