Fascinating Fungi : Our Friends or Foes ?

A talk by Dr Peter Herring. Attend in person in Cobham or via Zoom

There are thousands of different fungi in Britain, ranging from the single-celled yeasts to huge brackets several feet across. I shall mainly discuss the larger, more easily visible ones, with which most people are familiar.

What are they, how do they live and how do they spread? Their associations with other organisms are vital to the health of the ecosystem and at the same time they are the basis of billion dollar industries producing both food and pharmaceuticals.

Some, of course, cause serious harm to plants and animals -- including us, and not just to ill-advised foragers!
