Japanese Flowering Cherries, by Chris Sanders VMH
Hear all about ornamental flowering cherries, in particular the the Matsumae cherries, bred in northern Japan, many of which are present in the National Plant Collection at Keele University
Chris will give an overview of the history of their introduction into the UK before moving on to the relatively recent importation of the Matsumae cultivars bred by Masatoshi Asari in Hokkaido.
